British luxury car manufacturer Jaguar has announced this week that it will offer – to those willing to pay – an all-electric RACE Etaxi service at the legendary Nürburgring Nordschleife, using the company’sI-PACE performance SUV.
Fans of motorsport and automotive shows are well acquainted with Germany’s fearsome Nürburgring. For years, if nothing else, if you tuned in to BBC’s ‘Top Gear’ for more than a few minutes you were likely to hear Jeremy Clarkson ranting against the value of testing all cars against the Nürburgring.
Clarkson aside, however, and car fans still love the scale and terror of the 20-kilometre “Green Hell” of the Nürburgring Nordschleife.
Well aware of this, BMW has for years offered “Ring Taxis” – professionally-driven BMW M5s and, more recently, the BMW M3s which will take paying fans around the track at high speeds.
However, now Jaguar have entered the game, and are now offering the opportunity for fans to be taken out in the company’s I-PACE performance SUV.
Jaguar’s RACE eTAXI service will put paying customers in the I-PACE for a lap around the famous Green Hell.
For €149.00 for 1-3 passengers (AU$243), you’ll be given the opportunity to experience the Nürburgring in a zero-emissions vehicle which can nevertheless accelerate from 0-100km/h in 4.8 seconds (0-60mph in 4.5 seconds).
Powered by a state-of-the-art 90kWh lithium-ion battery delivering 400PS and 696Nm of torque, the I-PACE performance SUV will be well at home around the 20.8 kilometre, 73-corner Nordschleife thanks to its dynamic handling and all-wheel drive.
Already the winner of the 2019 World Green Car of the Year, the Jaguar I-PACE is likely to give those willing to pay a high-performance experience they won’t likely forget anytime soon.
