Contributor David Waterworth suggests a caption competition for this photo. He’s kicked it off with two offerings: “heaven and hell”, and “a view of the apocalypse.”
Yallourn is one of the most polluting power stations in the country, and had to shut down much of its capacity earlier this year when its mine was flooded. It is due to close permanently in 2028, and will be at least partially replaced by a huge big battery nearby.
