BMW is trying on a new marketing tool, offering Australian small and medium sized business a complimentary electric bicyle if they purchases a new BMW or Mini plug in electric car before the end of June.

The offer was made after the Victorian Government announced its Zero Emissions Vehicle (ZEV) Subsidy, which entitles individuals or businesses in Victoria to receive a $3,000 subsidy towards the purchase of a zero-emissions vehicle priced under $68,740.

“Our intention with this offer is to provide small and medium business customers the opportunity to access an additionally efficient form of transport for recreation or commuting to complement their electrified BMW or MINI purchase,” said Rene Gerhard, BMW head of sales in Australia.

The company noted that the Victorian subsidy was good news for prospective owners of the Mini Electric Hatch.

“BMW Group supports any efforts made by governments to encourage consumer access to electro-mobility solutions that ultimately reduce emissions in Australia and we hope to see further announcements along these lines in the future.”

The marketing offer will give customers the choice of either a NCM Moscow Plus all-terrain e-bike, or the NCM Milano Plus city commuter. Both bikes are powered by a 48-volt, 250-watt electric motor delivering a top speed of 25km/h, with a Dehawk 16Ah (Amp hour) battery that offers an electric range of up to 150km.
