The award-winning Volkswagen ID.3 has received a significant boost, with new pricing in the United Kingdom dropping the price to just under £30,000 ($AU55,000).
Volkswagen announced last week pricing for seven pre-configured series ID.3 models, a day after the company drove away with two wins in the German Car of the Year Awards – one for its Golf Mk 8 as well as the fully electric ID.3.
The timing of the new pricing comes only four weeks after the first British customers began driving away their limited-production ID.3 1st Editions. Orders for the seven new pre-configured series ID.3 models in the UK opened this week with deliveries expected before the end of the month.
Seven model variants will be on offer, with prices ranging from £29,990 to £39,290.
Of the seven variants, six under the ID.3 Pro Performance banner will be fitted with a 58kWh battery and a 204 PS motor. The six ID.3 Pro Performance models are the Life, Style, Business, Family, Tech, and the Max.
A seventh model, the ID.3 Pro S Tour model will have the largest battery fitted, boasting 77kWh and a 204 PS motor.

The Life, the cheapest of the seven new models, will cost customers only £29,990 (RRP On the road, and including the £3,000 plug-in car grant) and has two available packages included – either the Infotainment or the Comfort.
Unsurprisingly, however, the Life has the least options and customisability, and less of the upgrades and design details of the other, more expensive models.
“We are over the moon to be able to offer an ID.3 in the UK for under £30,000 so soon after the initial launch,” said Tim O’Donovan, EV product marketing manager at Volkswagen UK.
“The ID.3 Life is far from basic, with our medium sized battery, most powerful motor and extensive standard equipment list. Versions of the ID.3 with a smaller battery and less powerful motors will go on sale later next year with an even lower price.
“The ID.3 Life represents an affordable way for many people to take the leap into emission-free motoring. We’ve been working hard to make the switch to electric as simple as possible too, said Tim O’Donovan, EV product marketing manager at Volkswagen UK.
